The 2016 North Carolina State Fair kicked off last weekend and the list of bands playing this year is quite impressive. Here's a list of our top picks.

Dorton Arena, 7:30 PM


Superchunk brings their high energy rock show to Dorton Arena this year. They'll be joined by Skylar Gudasz, whose sharp songwriting skills make her a favorite of WUNC Music.

Corrosion of Conformity

Raleigh metal legends Corrosion of Conformity will be at the Fair on Friday for a show that will surely wake up the neighbors. Don't forget your ear plugs!

Kitchencraft Waterfall Stage, 10 AM

John Harrison leads Jphono1, one of Carrboro's premiere indie rock bands. They're playing bright and early at 10am on Friday, so be sure to plan accordingly. 

Thursday, 10/20
Heritage Circle Bluegrass Stage, 9:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, 3:30 PM, 5:30 pm

John Stickley Trio

Hailing from Asheville, NC, one of our favorite bluegrass bands will be playing several sets on Thursday. Jon Stickley Trio's mix of both traditional and modern styles of bluegrass is not to be missed.

Maceo Parker
Dorton Arena, 7:30 PM

Maceo Parker

Kinston's Maceo Parker is best known for his work as saxaphonist in both James Brown's backing band The JB's and Parliament. He'll be turning Dorton Arena in to a dance party on Sunday at 7:30.
