Governor Pat McCrory and Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker will make an announcement Monday that will "reform and revise" the whole Commerce Department. McCrory spoke Friday at an Executive Networking Conference in Pinehurst. He told the minority business leaders and contractors that the state needs to treat businesses as customers, not adversaries.
"We’re going to do a public- private sector implementation of how we recruit new industry and retain existing industry in North Carolina," McCrory said. "Again, if we’ve been doing it the same old way for the last 30 years, and we have the fourth highest unemployment rate in the nation, maybe we ought to do it different."
McCrory says it’s time to experiment and re-brand economic development in North Carolina.
