It's a busy college sports week in North Carolina. An event tonight at UNC Chapel Hill will take a closer look at how college sports may look in the future.
Dave DeWitt: From scandals to championships, the worst and best of college sports has been on display in the state in just the past year. Tonight's discussion will bring together several critics of the corrupting influence of money on college sports, and what changes might be made to make it better.
Author Taylor Branch, former UNC president Bill Friday, and Duke professor Charles Clotfelter will participate. Branch wrote a scathing article in The Atlantic magazine last year, calling the organization that runs college sports a "cartel." Branch is a Pulitzer prize winner and the author of a renowned trilogy on the life of Martin Luther King.
The college sports panel tonight is free and open to the public.
