Tim Krekel Orchestra Celebrates 'Soul Season'

Country-rock singer Tim Krekel uses music as a means of paying tribute to life, love, and especially rock 'n' roll. Born in Louisville, Krekel got his start in music at an early age, breaking into the record industry in the '70s as a guitarist in Jimmy Buffett's band. Krekel's first solo album, Crazy Me, followed in 1979.

In 1993, Krekel started a new band, The Groovebillys, which quickly became a Louisville staple while also developing a national audience. Now recording as leader of Tim Krekel Orchestra, he released Soul Season last fall. In this segment, Krekel talks about the bands he's led and discusses the inspiration behind the song "Wilson Pickett."
