UNC and NC State are moving on to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA men's basketball Tournament. But the news isn't all good.
Jeff Tiberii: Moments after UNC's convincing 87-73 win against Creighton in the Round of 32, Dennis Marshall stood three rows behind the Tar Heel bench with a look of grave concern. His son, Kendall has just scored 18 points and dished out 11 assists. But dad had noticed Kendall hadn't touched the ball with his right hand for the last 10 minutes of the game, after being fouled hard. Moments later Roy Williams confirmed dad's fears:
Roy Williams: Well lets get the bad stuff out of the way first. Kendall has a fractured wrist. And that's all I can tell you. He has a fracture of the scaphoid bone of the right wrist.
Marshall is left-handed. His status for Friday's Sweet 16 game in St. Louis is unknown. Meanwhile, NC State is also heading to Missouri after knocking off Georgetown 66-63 on Sunday. If both teams win Friday they will meet for a trip to the Final Four on Sunday.
