Snow, sleet and ice continue to cover the state. Meanwhile, many people are staying safe as they experience the wintry weather. Take a look at what people are up to as the storm sweeps through:
Durham resident Monica Trodgen's daughter discovers sidewalks are slick enough for sleds.
Monica Trogden leads a group of neighborhood kids in search of a hill.
Rocky Smith, 40, spent the morning plowing the roads around his neighborhood in Chatham County. "Not a bad day to run around on your four-wheeler," he says with a laugh. "I've plowed three times so far to keep it from accumulating too much on the road." The war veteran is currently studying psychology: "If I weren't here, I'd be sitting in my office doing my homework."
Alex Rivera and his daughter, Dulce Gonzalez, didn't have any luck finding bread or milk at the store, so they grabbed McDonalds instead. "I'd be in Biology and English today -- I'm so happy classes got canceled. Homework is killer and so stressful."
"I was a police officer for about 30 years so I had to work in this mess! People were always having to learn how to drive their car in the snow," says Bob Murdaugh from Chatham County. "That's why we get so many problems here, we don't get that much practice."

Frances Gaillard, 10, sleds with her sister, Mer, 8. "It feels like a small rollercoaster! I like going on my knees and on my stomach." Frances says after sledding, she's going to "sit back and sip hot cocoa."
Brian Kurish, 25, of Chapel Hill, running along Martin Luther King Boulevard, three and a half miles into a four-mile workout Friday afternoon. Neither the treacherous footing nor the freezing rain were problems for him. He's dealt with much worse as an Ohio native.
"It's beautiful out here," he said.
Snow plows are making repeated runs in both directions on Martin Luther King Boulevard in Chapel Hill Friday afternoon, trying to clear the slush fast enough to keep one of the town's main thoroughfares open.
