An Arctic cold front passed through the region Monday, bringing below-freezing temperatures to the Triad and Triangle.
National Weather Service Forecaster Scott Sharp says temperatures have hovered in the teens so far this morning.
"Temperatures today will struggle here across a large part of Piedmont to reach the freezing mark," Sharp says. "In fact, it looks like a large part of the areas, particularly along and to the North of I-85, it's a possibility that they will not reach freezing today."
Another weather system is moving into the area now.
"This cold snap is gonna continue for a good part of the week. We're expecting a quick moving upper level system to come across the area Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday evening and that may produce a few patched of some very light patches of snow across the region."
More wintry precipitation is possible this weekend, too.
