Hosts Dave DeWitt and Leoneda Inge report on the effort to rename a building on the campus of a North Carolina university, and why faculty leading that charge say the change will help undo a harmful history in the South.

Is there a right way to pay tribute to someone who was highly influential in their time?

Is there a right way to know if that person's ideas and influence will be worth celebrating decades later?

In Renamed, a documentary special from WUNC, journalists Leoneda Inge and Dave DeWitt take us on a virtual visit to a building on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Some people who work inside that building say what's on the outside amounts to celebrating a longstanding injustice and an unworthy hero. But they have an idea for one step that could be taken to right a historical wrong.
