City officials announced the resignation of Mujeeb Shah-Khan Friday evening. The announcement comes after a week in which many questions have emerged over a payment the city made to the civil rights museum.

- The museum asked the city for financial help last fall.
- The city allocated a $750,000 payment to the museum in October.
- The money was supposed to be part of a loan, but it was determined last week the funds went out without a loan agreement ever having been finalized.
- The civil rights museum has struggled to break even and gain visitors since opening four years ago.
Shah-Khan has been with the city since May of 2012. He will be paid a half of his $166,000 annual salary as a severance package. The city has still not finalized a loan agreement with the museum. City leaders agreed to provide a total of 1.5 million dollars to the struggling museum.
