Organizers behind a downtown performing arts center in Greensboro announced this week that the project is on schedule to break ground next fall. The arts center will cost an estimated $65 million, with $30 million in funding from the city and $35 million in private donations from the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro (CFGG).
“We are finalizing our fundraising efforts to reach out goal. We are building the performing arts center on the site the city purchased. And right across the park we will be building a $10 million public park that will be gifted to the city of Greensboro once completed,” said Walker Sanders Walker Sanders is president of CFGG.
The venue will be called the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts. The son of the Tanger Outlet founder donated $7.5 million to the project. Leaders hope the venue is open in the spring of 2015.
