NPR celebrates the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. with the 13th annual "A King Celebration." Led by conductor Robert Spano at the Martin Luther King, Jr. International Chapel at Morehouse College, the musical tribute features the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Morehouse College Glee Club, directed by Dr. David Morrow and the Spelman College Glee Club, directed by Dr. Kevin Johnson. Lyric soprano Teresa Hamm-Smith, who recently made her San Francisco Opera debut as Sister Rose in the world premiere of Dead Man Walking, is the guest soloist.

Since its inception in 1992, this annual event has become one of the most celebrated national musical tributes to Dr. King and the African-American experience. NPR's Fred Child hosts.

"A King Celebration" is made possible through a collaboration of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, NPR, The King Center and Morehouse and Spelman Colleges. The concert is sponsored by GE Energy and supported by grants from the City of Atlanta Bureau of Cultural Affairs, the Fulton County Arts Council and the Georgia Council for the Arts.
