Watch Live: Gov. Cooper gives briefing on next stage of COVID-19 in NC

Governor Roy Cooper and members of the North Carolina Coronavirus Task Force will share updates on COVID-19 at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Cooper is expected to be joined by the Secretaries of the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Commerce to discuss the next phase of COVID-19.

Gov. Cooper commutes six sentences; grants two pardons

Late Wednesday, Governor Roy Cooper announced he had commuted the sentences of six people in North Carolina prisons and granted pardons of innocence to two others. According to the governor's office, the clemency actions followed a review by the Office of Executive Clemency, the Office of General Counsel, and the governor.
