The history of the Tar Heel State goes on display tomorrow at theNorth Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh. Officials say The Story of North Carolina is so large the exhibit will open in two parts. The first half begins with the earliest signs of civilization and runs through the 1830s. Raelana Poteat is one of the museum's curators.
Raelana Poteat: "We have a section that deals with the 18th century, all the different groups that came to North Carolina, the Germans, the English, the Africans who came here as slaves, all the people who made North Carolina into the state it is today, the people who were the ancestors of the North Carolinians who live here. And then we also have a section on the Revolution."
Poteat says the show is arranged chronologically. Part Two of the Story of North Carolina should be ready by fall.
