Twin Shadow On 'World Cafe: Next'

Born in the Domincan Republic and raised in rural Florida, George Lewis Jr., better known as Twin Shadow, now calls Brooklyn his home. After long periods of travel to Germany and Europe, where he soaked up a lot of the euro-centric music culture, Lewis decided to settle down in New York. Like many musicians in Brooklyn these days, Lewis began recording alone in his bedroom. Pulling together a nostalgic wash of 1980s synths and electric guitar, he managed to catch the eye of Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor.

Taylor, who was in the process of establishing his own record label, was immediately hooked on Lewis' ambitious synth-pop. Taking Lewis under his wing, he agreed to produce Twin Shadow's debut album Forget, the first album to be released under the Terrible Records name. Released in the fall, Forget was immediately acknowledged for its breezy sweetness and was subsequently distributed worldwide on 4AD. But such sweetness aside, the album is full of fun-loving spirit and merits both listening and dancing.
