Japandroids' David Prowse and Brian King make a big, sloppy, winning noise out of nothing more than guitar, drums and emotional lyrics about youth and love: "I don't wanna worry about dying / I just wanna worry about those sunshine girls," they wail in "Young Hearts Spark Fire." Those words just about sum it up, packing a whole lot of rumination on life, death, love and priorities into a few disarming bursts of sentiment. The band's debut album, Post-Nothing, is a terrific slab of hooky rock, but it's also smarter than it sounds.
