While Jill Sobule made her first splash with mid-'90s hits like "I Kissed a Girl" and "Supermodel," Sobule has been improving her craft with each release. Her sunny, guitar-based pop is quirky, lyrically witty and quick, and often socially conscious.
Sobule's most recent album, California Years, was released this spring on her personal label, financed exclusively by her fans. It brings the same personality and sense of fun heard on her previous albums, as well as solid songwriting. Sobule recently performed material from the new album at the 2009 Philadelphia Folk Festival; hear highlights by clicking on the audio link above.
