On 'The Stoop': Little Jackie Unplugged

It was a short commute for Brooklyn's Little Jackie when it performed at the Bronx studios of WFUV. The duo of Adam Pallin and Imani Coppola arrived with two backup singers and a drummer in tow for a truly local session.

Pallin and Coppola met like musicians do — in the studio. And even though Coppola finds this tidbit a bit clichéd, it's hard to deny Little Jackie's chemistry. The story behind their partnership even brought out the group's humor, which is fitting because the songs on The Stoop provide joyful and sunny portraits of life in New York City.

Little Jackie strips away Pallin's lush production in this session. Trained classically, Coppola brandished her violin during "Remember (Walking in the Sand)," a new take on The Shangri-Las' classic. But Coppola was quick to admit that she's only recently started playing again, after giving up the instrument because of the intense competition at SUNY-Purchase.

Originally recorded Sept. 11, 2008.
