Peter Björn and John are a Swedish pop trio making insanely catchy music, with bouncing rhythms and whistled melodies. The group is currently on tour with the electro-pop band Fujiya and Miyagi and Au Revoir Simone. Hear all three bands recorded live in concert from the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.
Peter Björn and John are part of a wave of talented pop artists to come from Sweden in recent years that's included The Concretes, the Shout Out Louds, Jose Gonzalez and Loney, Dear. The band features Peter Morén on vocals and guitar, Björn Yttling on bass and keyboards and John Eriksson on percussion. The group formed in 1999 in Stockholm.
Peter Björn and John's biggest hit was the single "Young Folks," which featured singer Victoria Bergsman of The Concretes. The track was a top 40 hit in the U.K. and appeared on numerous lists for the best songs of 2006. Their latest CD is Writer's Block on Almost Gold records.
Fujiya and Miyagi is neither a duo nor Japanese as the name implies. The group from Brighton, England, features keyboardist Steve Lewis, guitarist and vocalist Dave Best and bassist Matt Hainsby. Fujiya and Miyagi make playful dance music with loops, guitar riffs and funky bass lines. Their latest CD is Transparent Things.
Au Revoir Simone is an art pop group from Brooklyn featuring Erika Forster on vocals and keyboards, Annie Hart on vocals and keys, and Heather D'Angelo on vocals and drum machine.
