Country singer Rosanne Cash visits the World Cafe Live stage in Philadelphia for an acoustic, midday concert. Her entire performance, with guitarist John Leventhall, originally webcast live on NPR.org Feb. 3. It's the latest in a series of Friday live concerts from member station WXPN. The series began with singer-songwriter Shawn Mullins.
Rosanne Cash has had to overcome the blessing and the curse of being the daughter of Johnny Cash. She became a country music star with her 1981 album Seven Year Ache and its crossover success title track. Since then she has created a body of work which has greatly influenced both modern Country music as well as the singer-songwriter genre. Her landmark 1990 album Interiors chronicled her divorce from Rodney Crowell and became an instant classic.
Cash's latest album, Black Cadillac, is a sonically beautiful and lyrically challenging disc -- the most intense and personal of all of Cash's many releases over a 25-year-plus career.
