Residents in Wake County will finally get a chance to review nine proposed student assignment plans. The choices will be posted later today on the schools’ website. The plans were developed by a special task force made up of school district staff. Wake County Schools Superintendent Tony Tata says it’s time for the public to get involved.
Tony Tata: "And so I’m very interested in what the public has to say about the product that we are presenting, which is about a 65 to 70 percent product."
The nine plans include two preferred options, the “green” and “blue” plans. The Wake School Board is planning several public hearings before adopting a new plan. Whatever option is chosen will replace the so-called diversity plan the School Board ended last year.
