Jose Sandoval shares Spanish-language broadcasts with BPR listeners after hurricane Helene

Jose Sandoval hosts All Things Considered for BPR.

Jose Sandoval was one of the voices on Blue Ridge Public Radio broadcasting life-saving information in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. And he started sharing it in Spanish too.

Sandoval now broadcasts a 30-minute bilingual radio program, and hopes to keep the Spanish broadcasts going.

Leoneda’s work includes stories of race, slavery, memory and monuments. She has won "Gracie" awards, an Alfred I. duPont Award and several awards from the Radio, Television, Digital News Association (RTDNA). In 2017, Leoneda was named "Journalist of Distinction" by the National Association of Black Journalists.
