Veterans in need of health care in eastern North Carolina will soon have a bigger facility. An expansion of the Veterans Administration clinic in Greenville gets underway with a ground breaking ceremony Thursday morning. Peter Tillman works for the Durham VA Medical Center. He says the expansion will allow the Greenville clinic to offer more services.
Peter Tillman: Audiology, cardiology, dental care, eye care, minor procedures and women's health care. And what it will do is reduce the amount of travel that veterans currently have to do to get the care at the Durham VA Medical Center and that's two hours each way.
Tillman says demand for services from veterans in the eastern part of the state is growing by eleven percent each year.
