A North Carolina animal rescue shelter is looking for homes for cats and kittens displaced after Hurricane Irma.WRAL in Raleigh reports Safe Haven for Cats in Raleigh received 30 cats, including 26 kittens, from Jacksonville, Florida.
The cats will be available for adoption in a few weeks after Safe Haven has them spayed and neutered and ensures they're in good health. The shelter's staff says those interested in adopting a cat are encouraged to complete an application before visiting the shelter.
The shelter staff also said it is in urgent need of adopters because it was already at capacity due to a high-volume summer kitten season.
