Youth Reporting Institute Listening Party

Youth Reporting Institute Listening Party
WUNC’s Youth Reporting Institute hosts its annual public listening party on Wednesday, August 23 at 6 PM at Durham Bottling Co. This is a free event and will feature the first public airing of eight new stories produced by WUNC’s Youth Reporting Team.
Each Summer WUNC hires a team of high school and college age students and asks them to produce a story that tells us something new about their community. This summer our Youth Reporters explored everything from the history of the Durham Black Sox and the Winston Salem chapter of the Black Panther Party, to the lasting impact of Hurricane Florence on rural communities.
While much of the reporting has been serious work, our Youth Team has also been having some fun. Earlier this summer they took over Summer In Tha Carolinas, and had the opportunity to build their journalism skills by shadowing our WUNC producers, engineers, and hosts. Join us for an evening of audio, art, and authenticity.
