A brother-and-sister act, Angus and Julia Stone are known around the globe for their ability to mesh two strong, separate vocal styles into an artfully mixed combination: Julia's light tones intermingle with Angus' rough, emotive baritone in arresting fashion. Angus and Julia Stone began to collaborate in 2006, each having gained experience as solo artists beforehand; that year, the two released their debut EP, Chocolate and Cigarettes. In the years since, the young singers have risen to the top of the charts in several countries, released more EPs and two full-lengths, and been nominated for numerous awards. They've shared stages with the likes of Donavon Frankenreiter and Martha Wainwright, and toured internationally.
The duo's latest album, the self-produced Down the Way, was released this past March, and captures an intimate bedroom folk sound. Though the Stones hail from Australia, Down the Way conjures images of lush Americana, inspired by time the pair spent in the American West.
