Free Energy, Recorded Live In Concert

The Philadelphia band Free Energy formed in 2008 and then spent two years building up buzz for its fun, free-spirited, '70s-style rock 'n' roll. Click the link above to hear Free Energy perform live in concert from WXPN and World Cafe Live in Philadelphia.

While Free Energy's throwback sound has an air of familiarity -- it fuses elements of glam, power-pop, bubblegum and arena rock -- that's helped the band distance itself from the indie-rock pack. Embracing pop hooks and giddy lyrics about romance, Free Energy has wooed fans with an exuberant and joyful sound. In the process, it won the attention of LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy, who produced Free Energy's new debut album, Stuck on Nothing.
