Gary Louris and Mark Olson enjoyed considerable success in the '80s and '90s as part of the alt-country group The Jayhawks. After Olson left the group in 1996, the two frontmen went on hiatus from the band, each recording and producing solo work.
The duo reunited in 2005 after working together on some film soundtracks. At that point, they began to tour and earnestly started on the album they'd wanted to make 20 years prior. On 2009's Ready for the Flood, Louris and Olson have let their bluegrass impulses take the reins. The album showcases the pair's natural harmonies and songwriting abilities, as well as the minimalist production of The Black Crowes' Chris Robinson.
In a session with host David Dye, Olson and Louris reminisce about their time with The Jayhawks and discuss their decision to record together again.
