Jarvis Cocker: From Pulp to Just 'Jarvis'

Jarvis Cocker.

Listen

Since the breakup of the Brit-rock band Pulp, founder and frontman Jarvis Cocker has collaborated with the likes of Nancy Sinatra and Marianne Faithfull, and even released an electronic side project called Relaxed Muscle. Still, it was only a matter of time before Cocker embarked on a solo career.

His debut solo disc, Jarvis, finds Cocker returning to the sound that catapulted Pulp to fame in the early '90s, focusing heavily on wry lyrics and strong melodies. Cocker even expands on his musical repertoire, getting more experimental with his layered arrangements.

This segment originally aired on May 11, 2007.
