The strangely effervescent and celebratory band Kinky creates surreal electronica and pop landscapes with rock and Latin influences. The Mexican group's energetic beats often accompany driving guitars and Spanish lyrics, creating an infectious and addictive sound.
When recording its most recent album, Kinky's Southern California studio was plagued by heavy rainfall and mudslides, one of which flowed directly into the studio, covering the band's instruments. Instead of giving up or returning later, Kinky's members rebuilt their instruments by hand and finished recording the disc in the mud-covered studio. The result is the lively, celebratory Reina.
