Our series on concert hall curveballs continues with the inimitable musical storyteller Jon Kimura Parker. The pianist recalls an incident on stage when the music he was reading found a way to drift far, far away when it was most needed, and Parker describes the consequences for the rest of the performance. Plus, a pointed mid-concert comment from the usually stoic pianist Alfred Brendel, directed at an audience with a higher-than-usual rate of throat irritation. Then we'll hear Brendel uninterrupted, playing the opening movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. Finally, we'll hear your letters and comments on concert hall curveballs and music by Steve Reich.
