Ray LaMontagne is one of the most expressive songwriters of our time. He came into the studio to perform songs from his debut album Trouble. His well-traveled voice and intense style have won him legions of fans.
Trouble was recorded in Los Angeles, with producer and musician Ethan Johns, who has also worked with Ryan Adams and the Jayhawks, among others. The album also features strings other than guitar: Sarah Watkins of Nickel Creek plays fiddle on two songs, while a five-piece string section played backing parts for several songs.
