British musician Bob Geldof wants to raise awareness about poverty in Africa — again. He has announced plans for concerts to be held July 2 in London, Philadelphia, Berlin, Paris and Rome, ahead of the G8 meeting in Scotland.
Twenty years ago, Geldof was the driving force behind Live Aid, which raised tens of millions of dollars to help fight famine in Africa but was criticized for its political naivete.
