Across the country, 10 short films are being created for the same reason many short films get made: to compete with other short films, and and perhaps to jumpstart the careers of the people who made them.
In this case, however, the filmmakers are all teenagers, working in teams for a project called Fresh Films. The competing films come from New York, Seattle, Denver, Minneapolis, Nashville, Chicago, Miami, Dallas, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.
Shooting began in June; all of the completed films will be online by the end of this month, and audiences can vote for their favorites. Winners will be announced in mid-August and will be honored in L.A. in September.
