The Santa Fe Desert Chorale at the Loretto Chapel

Each summer, the Santa Fe Desert Chorale brings together 20 professional singers from all over the country to Santa Fe, New Mexico. They perform five different repertoires and return again at Christmas for their very popular "Merry New Mexico Christmas" concert.

One of their most beautiful concert venues is the Loretto Chapel, a charming 19th century chapel, patterned after the Ste. Chapelle in Paris. An architectural and acoustic gem, the chapel's most famous feature is its staircase. Known as the "miraculous staircase" or St. Joseph’s Staircase, it has two complete 360 degree curves, with no center support, no glue and no nails.

In this edition of Performance Today, the chorale performs Randall Thompson's "Alleluia" and Debussy's "Dieu! qu'il la fait bon regarder" from the Loretto Chapel.
