Eric Lindell found his way from the beaches of San Mateo, Calif., to the swamps of New Orleans in order to perfect his soulful, 1970s-style blues-rock. Since joining Alligator Records in 2005, he's transformed himself from unknown local New Orleans artist to the forefront of popular blues with the release of last year's Low on Cash, Rich in Love.
Lindell's latest album, Gulf Coast Highway, features Galactic drummer Stanton Moore and bassist Robert Mercurio. The album shows off new techniques in Lindell's songwriting: infusions of soulful and funky grooves with touches of R&B and a bit of honky-tonk. Lindell draws from his experiences and travels around the country, giving his music a sense of worldly spirit.
