A group of graduating seniors at Elon University have been recognized nationally for their YouTube video that imitates the intro of the popular sitcom “Friends.” The group of six then-seniors (now graduates) asked the university's vice-president for permission to frolic in the university’s Fonville Fountain to shoot the short film.
Lucie Miller, Sarah Davenport, Alexis Deprey, David Gwynn, Will Anderson and Patrick Cunningham played the six characters from the TV series and donned clothing that matches the style of the original 'Friends' cast.
Last week, GoodMorningAmerica.com interviewed the three young men involved in the “Friends” remake. Ringleader David Gwynn told GMA, “We always joked that we have the right amount of people to be the 'Friends' crew. And we're all cinema majors, so we were just like, 'Let's do it.’”
The video has received over 115,000 views.
According to the Elon’s Belk Library Archives, it’s not the first time that Fonville Fountain has appeared in a film. In 1997, Spike Lee filmed scenes for the NBA movie He Got Game, which starred Denzel Washington and NBA player Ray Allen, as well as many Elon undergraduates as extras.
