Chapel Hill, NC – WUNC Music, the Music Discovery streaming radio station produced by NPR News/Talk WUNC-FM in Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, is adding its first on-air host. Cindy Howes, formerly the morning host of WYEP-FM in Pittsburgh and current host of Folk Alley and the Basic Folk podcast, will begin Monday, February 24 as on-air host from 12 – 6 pm Mondays through Saturdays.

In her new position, Howes will guide WUNC Music listeners through the locally curated Music Discovery format with insights into the songs, artists, local music, music scene, arts and cultural events in the Triangle area.

“Having so much respect for the music coming out of The Triangle, I'm thrilled to join the team at WUNC," Howes said. "A region historically rich in music that continues to produce important artists, deserves an awesome public radio music station! I can't wait to get in there and play music from our neighbors, while discovering some new records and sharing your favorite artists every afternoon.”

WUNC Music’s Brian Burns added: “We’re so excited to have Cindy on board at WUNC Music. She has a fantastic presence and will take the station to a whole new level.”

WUNC Music is consulted by Mike Henry of Paragon Media Strategies in Denver.
