The International Bluegrass Music Association has announced the lineup of artists that will play the World of Bluegrass festival this fall.

Allison Krauss and Union Station Featuring Jerry Douglas will headline the event. It'll be held in Raleigh for the second year in a row. The Sam Bush band will also perform.

Paul Schiminger is the new Executive Director of the IBMA.

Schiminger says says Raleigh was very accommodating to festival goers last year.

"It's given the IBMA a whole new visibility really in the community of Bluegrass itself. Where we had one in the past, but this really took it to another level."

The Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates that more than 180,000 people attended the festival last year. It says the World of Bluegrass event generated $10.8 million in direct visitor spending for the region.

Schiminger says the festival's second year will also feature other strong performers.

"The Steep Canyon Rangers are coming to town, Balsam Range, The Infamous Stringdusters, The Kruger Brothers, Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen, among others."

He says newer bands will perform at a business conference showcast before the festival. He says it gives them important exposure.
