Frank's Favorites 2011

Frank with author Lee Smith at the Murphey School Radio Show

Host Frank Stasio wraps up this week of retrospectives with his favorite interviews of the year. In 2011, he particularly enjoyed talking to Sister Helen Prejean, author of “Dead Man Walking,” about why she believes the death penalty should be abolished. He also loved a conversation on restorative justice, the practice of bringing the victim and the offender together in an effort to heal rather than punish.

Longtime NPR correspondent Frank Stasio was named permanent host of The State of Things in June 2006. A native of Buffalo, Frank has been in radio since the age of 19. He began his public radio career at WOI in Ames, Iowa, where he was a magazine show anchor and the station's News Director.
