Olsen, Newton Lead Panthers To Eviscerate The Bears

In NFL action, it was a big night for Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen. He had been traded by the Chicago Bears in 2011, and he made them pay for it yesterday.

Olsen caught a pair of touchdown passes, as Carolina came back from a two-touchdown deficit. They won 31-to-24 over the Bears.

Olsen said he didn't play out of spite, but the victory did help ease the pain of the Panthers' last two losses.

“This is where I wanna be. And I'm just happy for these guys, to win a game like that: at home, the crowd got into it, beat a really good team,” said Olsen. “That's awesome, and that's why you play the game.”

Quarterback Cam Newton stayed in the game, despite a hard hit to the legs. Newton has grappled with rib and elbow injuries over the past few months. Still, he passed for 255 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. Newton also knocked down Bears linebacker Lance Briggs with a block on a reverse.

Newton says it's all in a day's work.

“I'm not a quarterback, I'm a football player. I just happen to play quarterback.”

Next Sunday, the Panthers take on the Cincinnati Bengals.
