North Carolina State University is the destination for the first football player to transfer from Penn State.
Gurnal Scott: Nittany Lions' reserve safety Tim Buckley is seeking a fresh start in the shadow of the severe NCAA sanctions against Penn State. NC State athletic officials confirmed the transfer in a statement yesterday. Buckley is from North Carolina. He is expected to join the Wolfpack for the team's first practice today. 2011 was a redshirt year for Buckley so he'll have four years of eligibility in Raleigh. NCAA rules normally require athletic transfers to sit out for one season. The NCAA is letting Penn State players become immediately eligible should they decide to switch schools after the sanctions for the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal. It does appear though, that a majority of Penn State players will honor their commitment to that school.
