Charlotte's Mayor Welcomes Delegates

Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx welcomed Democrats to his city for their convention last night. Many Democrats see the two-term mayor as a rising star in the party. He talked about his beginnings and his rise to become mayor of North Carolina's largest city. Foxx said Charlotte's development mirrors the message his fellow Democrats want to take from this convention.

Anthony Foxx: "When cities across the South struggled to desegregate schools, Charlotteans came together. Across kitchen tables, black and white families met and decided to break down barriers that have long divided their children."

Foxx used his speech to caution his fellow Democrats about voter apathy. He said they should spend the next two months before Election Day knocking on doors.
