GOP Meets In Greensboro

State Republicans have gathered in Greensboro for the weekend.

Gurnal Scott: The North Carolina GOP has begun its three-day convention. The party is seeking a pair of statewide victories later this year: Mitt Romney in the race for president and Pat McCrory for governor. Left-leaning Public Policy Polling shows McCrory leading Democratic candidate Walter Dalton by six percentage points. Another survey has Romney trailing President Obama by a single percentage point. Both polls were taken in mid-May after Romney won the state's presidential primary. Some high-profile party figures will address the convention over the next two days. Donald Trump is scheduled to speak tonight. Texas Governor Rick Perry and former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty will speak tomorrow. Attendees will also vote this weekend on delegates to the national convention in Tampa.
