WUNCPolitics Podcast: HB2 Repeal, Craft Beer Bill & Confirmation Hearings

WUNCPolitics Podcast

Time to review what was a chaotic week. Legislators passed a measure that repealed House Bill 2, the controversial state law that limited protections for LGBT people.

The deal removes the requirement that transgender people must use the restroom that matches the sex on their birth certificate but leaves state legislators in charge of policy on public restrooms. The proposal also bans local governments from passing nondiscrimination ordinances affecting private employers until December 2020.

WUNC Capitol Bureau Chief Jeff Tiberii talks with Mitch Kokai, senior policy analyst at the John Locke Foundation, and Rob Schofield, Director of Research at NC Policy Watch, about the HB2 repeal and other items in the week’s news.

Jeff Tiberii covers politics for WUNC. Before that, he served as the station's Greensboro Bureau Chief.
