Emily Elena Dugdale

Emily Elena Dugdale is the miltary and veterans reporter for 89.3 KPCC - Southern California Public Radio and the LAist website.

Previously, Emily worked in Honolulu as a reporter and producer for the Offshore podcast from Honolulu Civil Beat. She is a graduate of the Toni Stabile Investigative Journalism program at the Columbia University School of Journalism, where she covered issues of race and social justice for Columbia's Uptown Radio weekly news broadcast. 

Before graduate school, Emily worked the local news scene in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she wrote for local publications including The San Francisco Bay Guardian, The San Francisco Public Press, The Marin Independent JournalBerkeleyside and The Lamorinda Weekly

She also spent time in Medellín, Colombia reporting on politics, pop culture and race issues for the English-language publication Colombia Reports.

Emily's reporting was featured in an award-winning investigative project with the San Francisco Public Press on school segregation in the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD).  The project, a "sweeping, data-driven inquiry" [SPJ NorCal] into the gradual resegregation of the SFUSD received the 2016 investigative reporting award from the Education Writers Association and the 2015 investigative journalism award in the print/text small division from the Society of Professional Journalists - Northern California chapter.
