The University of North Carolina at Greensboro has announced a new enrollment program with two nearby community colleges. The program is called Gsquared and will automatically accept co-admitted transfer students from Guilford Technical Community College and Alamance Community College.

Two of the main reasons for the program are to reduce the time it takes to get a degree and to lower student debt, according to UNC-Greensboro Vice Chancellor of Undergraduate Enrollment Bryan Terry.

“This is really all about access and opportunity and getting students on the right track earlier in their careers,” Terry said.

The requirements are that students go to their respective community colleges full-time and get their associate's degree. After that, they will be admitted to UNC-Greensboro.

Terry said this is a win-win for students.

“This is just a good opportunity for us to get them on track earlier in the process so that they're not wasting financial aid and so that they're not taking unnecessary courses,” Terry said.

The program is expected to start in Fall 2018.
