'I'm thinking about going into education, but every time I bring it up, people are like, 'Oh, it's not the right field to go into right now. It's not economically a good choice.' But it's really inspiring to hear someone who's chosen this because it's the right thing to do.' - Leah Meshnick
WUNC is in the midst of a yearlong examination of what it's like to be an educator, called the North Carolina Teacher Project. This week, we're returning to the My Teacher series, exploring what it takes to make a connection in the classroom by asking students to interview their teachers.
WUNC's My Teacher series continues at East Chapel Hill High School, where we asked Hannah Schanzer and Leah Meshnick to interview a teacher who stands out to them.
They chose their civics teacher, Brian Link. Leah says Mr. Link inspired her to consider a career in education. Hannah starts their conversation by telling Mr. Link she realized how engaging he was during a field trip to Washington, D.C.
Hannah and Leah's conversation with Brian Link is part of WUNC's My Teacher series. It's also a part of American Graduate-Let’s Make it Happen!- a public media initiative to address the drop out crisis, supported by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
The My Teacher series is produced and facilitated by Will Michaels.
