Business leaders, state officials, and diplomats gathered last night to launch a new chapter of the British American Business Council. Steve Cain is the president of the new Triangle/Eastern North Carolina chapter. He says the region is very attractive for international investment.
Cain says, "It's such a thriving, vibrant and diverse area, so...my background is pharmaceuticals, and obviously with companies like GSK and Quintiles and many other CROs in this area there's already a well-established bilateral trade going on there. But there's a lot of other high-tech industries - wireless communications, there's aerospace, there's defense."
Cain is managing partner of Psscion Lifesciences Consulting, based in RTP. He says his new chapter will work with the state Department of Commerce to help British businesses expand here. And it will use the BABC's international network to help local businesses expand into the U.K. The U.K. was North Carolina's 7th-largest international recipient of exports in 2011.
