Even at its mellowest, Twilight Singers' music is driving and intense, with an emotional rawness that's only enhanced by Greg Dulli's unhinged vocals. Dulli, the former singer and songwriter of Afghan Whigs, has long been involved with multiple projects at the same time: He currently acts and contributes to a TV soundtrack, in addition to myriad solo, duo and group-based projects outside of Twilight Singers.
The band's most recent album, Powder Burns, was recorded in New Orleans shortly after Hurricane Katrina, in studios powered by generators. Guest performers on the album, which came out in May, include Ani DiFranco and Joseph Arthur. An EP called A Stitch in Time will follow in January.
