and Senator Dole over the issue of welfare reform. The President says he will sign Senator Dole's new welfare reform proposal, if a provision is removed that would end the Medicaid entitlement. Keeping welfare reform from passing may be in the interest of the Dole Presidential campaign. But a number of Republicans in Congress may want to see it pass, as they run for reelection.
